Safari White Pelican
This American White Pelican is one of the largest birds but still very majestic in the air. Soaring high in large groups they can travel long distances. They dip their pouched bills in the water to scoop up fish often working together to herd fish into the swallows. Unlike the comics they do not carry fish in their pouches but swallow the fish before they fly away. They often steal from other Pelicans or Cormorants who often nest and feed together in the same colonies.
Our Pelican with the striking white and black wings has been fishing and carries a fish in his beak. He stands appx 3.75 inches high with a wingspan while grounded of appx 3.5 inches and about 3 inches from his beak to his tail feathers.
