Description
Saber Tooth Cat
Sabre-toothed cats existed from the Eocene through the Pleistocene Epoch (56 million to 11,700 years ago). They could be found during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs (23 million to 2.6 million years ago) in North America and Europe. Making their way to Asia and Africa by Pliocene times they were also seen in South America. About the size of our African lion they were known for their upper canine teeth, up to 20 cm (8 inches) long. Maybe used for stabbing and slashing attacks on large herbivores like the mastodon?. Belonging to any of the extinct catlike carnivores who are part of either the extinct family Nimravidae or the subfamily Machairodontinae of the cat family (Felidae).
Our replica is almost 4 inches from nose to tail and about 2 inches tall.
